Inmet Mining Corp. said yesterday it will buy Teck Cominco Ltd.'s Turkish unit, Teck Cominco Madencilik Sanayi, which could add about 20,000 tonnes to annual copper output. The TCM subsidiary owns the Cerattepe copper and near-surface gold-silver deposit in northeastern Turkey. The property is about 200 kilometres by highway from Inmet's 55-per-cent owned Cayeli copper-zinc mine. Production at Cayeli in 2003 is expected to be about 39,000 tonnes of copper and 36,000 tonnes of zinc. Inmet said payment for Cerattepe will total around $11-million (U.S.).
