Canadian intellectual property holder Wi-LAN Inc. has filed patent-infringement litigation in Texas against Research In Motion Ltd. and Motorola Inc. In addition to the two mobile-device giants, Ottawa-based Wi-LAN said yesterday it is suing network and switching equipment maker UTStarCom Inc. Wi-LAN claims the Canadian high-tech leader and the other two companies have infringed on two U.S. patents related to mobile handheld devices and other equipment. WIN (TSX) rose 19 cents to $1.94.
