Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul shoots against Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka during the third quarter in game six of the second round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs at Staples Center in Los Angeles on May 15.Richard Mackson

Clippers guard Chris Paul has been fined $25,000 for criticizing an official after Los Angeles lost 105-94 to Cleveland.

The penalty is in line with others the NBA has levied for being critical of officials. Paul was given a technical by Lauren Holtkamp on Thursday night and afterward said the call was "ridiculous" and seemed to imply that one of the NBA's two female officials may have been in over her head, saying "this might not be for her."

Paul later clarified that he was only upset with the call made by Holtkamp, who is in her first full season as an NBA ref.

The call happened when two Clippers players were inbounding the ball. Paul appeared to say something to Holtkamp and was assessed with a technical.
