The Toronto Raptors appear to have given an early Christmas present to their fans - a peek at the team's new look.

Images of a what appears to be a new logo were first posted on social media Friday afternoon followed by a brief video posted by the NBA club on its official YouTube account. The sleek new logo that's a silver basketball, ripped by dinosaur claw marks, inside a red circle is set to make the dribbling dinosaur logo extinct after this current season.

Canadian rapper Drake, the Raptors' global ambassador who had a hand in the redesign, told reporters earlier in the week that people will be "floored with what we have in store for next season".

Reaction to the image was mixed with some calling it "cool", some not impressed with the initial design while others noted the similarity between it and the current Brooklyn Nets logo - including the Nets themselves, who tweeted, "@Raptors Looks familiar".
