Thiago Braz da Silva of Brazil won gold in the Men's Pole Vault final on Day 10 of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.  His winning vault made the front page of newspapers across Brazil.  He broke the 6-meter barrier to upset defending champion Renaud Lavillenie and win pole vault gold with an Olympic record of 6.03.
