Carlos Martinez, a running back at the University of Montreal, was suspended for six months by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport on Monday for an anti-doping violation.
The player was tested Sept. 10, 2011 and his urine sample revealed the presence of methylhexaneamine, a prohibited stimulant.
Methylhexaneamine is classified as a "specified substance" on the World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list. It can be found in both nutritional supplements and sport drinks.
Upon being notified by the CCES, Martinez acknowledged the violation and accepted a six-month sanction, which will end April 19.
Martinez appeared in just two games for the Carbins last season, rushing for a total of minus-2 yards in a win against McGill but seeing no action in a loss against Laval.
