Steve Friesen fired a career-low 10-under 62 to grab the first-round lead at the Price Cutter Charity Championship. His bogey-free round leaves him two shots ahead of Australian Gavin Coles and three up on Craig Bowden.

Josh Broadaway, Scott Gardiner, Brad Adamonis, Tyrone Van Aswegen and rookie Zack Sucher share fourth place with 6-under 66s at Highland Springs Country Club.

The top four players on the leaderboard - Friesen, Coles, Bowden and Broadaway - did not have a bogey among them.

Bryan DeCorso of Guelph, Ont., coming off his best Nationwide result in two years, and Matthew Richardson of Woodbridge, Ont., are the top Canadians after shooting 69. That leaves them seven off the pace.

David Morland IV of North Bay, Ont. is at 2-under 70 while Vancouver's Richard T. Lee opened with a 71.

Ted Brown of Peterborough, Ont., making his 2011 Nationwide debut, opened with a 74; Jon Mills of Belleville, Ont., had a pair of double bogeys en route to a 76, his worst opening round score of the year while Barrett Jarosch of Edmonton struggled to a 79.

J. J. Killeen, going for his third straight Nationwide Tour victory, fired a 2-over 74, ending his streak of 16 consecutive rounds under par. The Texan had only one birdie during his round.
