Forty-two hopefuls for the Canadian junior hockey team's selection camp have descended on Calgary.

Head coach Don Hay will choose his 22-player team by Wednesday.

One invited player was unable to attend. Forward Ryan Spooner of the Kingston Frontenacs has been diagnosed with mononucleosis.

The camp roster includes four goalies, 14 defencemen and 24 forwards.

The world junior hockey championship opens Boxing Day in Edmonton and Calgary.
