The Phoenix Coyotes signed left winger Mike York to a $1-million (all figures U.S.), one-year contract yesterday.

He had 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 66 games with the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders last season.

York, who is joining his fifth National Hockey League team, has recorded 308 points (121-187) in 515 career regular-season games.

Also yesterday, veteran forward Dallas Drake agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings.

Detroit originally selected Drake in the sixth round of the 1989 NHL entry draft. He played two seasons with the club before being traded to the Winnipeg Jets in 1994.

The 38-year-old was placed on waivers last month by the St. Louis Blues, his team for the past six seasons. Drake signed a $2.2-million, two-year deal before last season and was due to make $1-million next year.

Drake has 174 goals and 297 assists in 944 career games. He ended last season on injured reserve because of a wrist injury.

The Dallas Stars signed veteran left winger Todd Fedoruk to a $875,000, one-year deal.

Fedoruk, 28, appeared in 58 games last season with the Anaheim Ducks and Philadelphia Flyers, registering three goals and 11 assists. Fedoruk has 17 goals and 48 assists in 354 career NHL games.
