Wayne Gretzky's daughter and Twitter celebrity Paulina Gretzky announced her engagement over the weekend via – what else – Twitter.

The 24-year-old is engaged to marry pro golfer beau Dustin Johnson, who posted a photo of her hand with a large, square-cut diamond ring on Sunday morning with the caption "she said yes!!!" The photo had been retweeted nearly 500 times by the end of the weekend. On Instagram, the bride-to-be posted a photo of her and her fiancé kissing with her newly blinged ring finger in view. She included the caption "never been happier."

Along with the photos, the pair retweeted several congratulatory messages from their friends and family, including Ms. Gretzky's younger brother, Trevor.

The pair have close to a combined 500,000 Twitter followers on their respective Twitter accounts, but where Mr. Johnson earned fame for his skills on the fairway, Ms. Gretzky has gained notoriety for her sexy Twitter and Instagram photos. She often shares racy snapshots of herself posing provocatively in skin-tight dresses and barely-there bikinis.

But aside from her famous name and her popular personal photography hobby, Ms. Gretzky is notable for her short-lived music career. Her single Collecting Dust was featured on then-red-hot reality show Laguna Beach in 2006 and she was briefly signed on with Universal Canada. She's also done some work modelling.

Earlier this year, Ms. Gretzky graced the cover of Canadian fashion magazine Flare, which featured an in-depth interview with the 'Great One's' oldest daughter. In the interview, she told the magazine her Dad preferred that she not date hockey players.

But it appears other athletes are not off limits. Mr. Johnson, 29, is from South Carolina and has been a professional golfer since 2007. He currently plays on the PGA Tour and is the first player since Tiger Woods to come straight out of college and win in each of his first three years on the tour.
