Apple Inc.'s iPhone 6 Plus is now on backorder and not available to ship for three to four weeks in Canada and the U.S., only hours after the new larger-screen smartphone became available for pre-order.
All models of the iPhone 6 Plus – which has a 5.5-inch screen – are estimated to have the delayed shipping date, according to Apple's website. The smaller iPhone 6 is still available for delivery on Sept. 19, when the devices are set to officially go on sale.
Apple unveiled this week the new smartphones with rounded edges, thinner frames and higher-resolution displays, and they became available for pre-order starting at 3 a.m. New York time.
Apple is selling out of its stock even after customers took to Twitter to complain of difficulties loading the website to place pre-orders early this morning. Apple's website last had problems loading at about 3:22 a.m. New York time, according to Isitdownrightnow.com, a site that tracks Internet issues.
