To be blunt, I don't hang with a crowd that would appreciate this wine. It's a sparkling red, on the sweet side, made by a huge brand in Australia and looks all dressed-up for a bridal shower. But I grew up around wine and can't help be drawn in by the heady, grapy essence that suggests partly fermented must. Medium-sweet, with good acid and effervescent balance, it's happy juice, the sort of thing I would enjoy around some roasted chestnuts or spicy charcuterie. Well done, Yellow Tail. Just keep me away from the bridal showers. Available in Ontario, where it's on sale for $11.95 till Nov. 29.
