The Record, a trade publication that chronicled goings on behind the scenes of the Canadian music industry for 20 years, has folded. "It has become obvious that the business model -- a mix of subscriptions and advertising income from the music industry -- was not viable," founder David Farrell said in a statement. The Record changed from a weekly print magazine to an Internet-based subscription Web site in August, 1999. RPM, Canada's oldest music industry magazine published its final issue in November. CP
