Lynne Stopkewich's Suspicious River leads a tight pack of feature film nominees for the 2001 Leo Awards for achievement in British Columbia film and television production.

The film will face stiff competition from Bruce Spangler's Protection, Arne Olsen's Here's to Life, Michael Parker's Lunch With Charles and Martin Cummins's We All Fall Down. The five films dominated the awards list announced last week, capturing 41 of the 51 nominations in 10 categories.

Da Vinci's Inquest and The Outer Limits reigned in the TV category, each picking up 13 nominations including best dramatic series. Tokyo Girls, Penelope Buitenhaus's National Film Board documentary about Japan's hostess trade, received six nominations.

The winners will be announced at two ceremonies on May 11 and 12 at the Hotel Vancouver. Staff
