Bionic casting

The homegrown talent is turning out in force for the new edition of The Bionic Woman. Canadian-born thespians Aaron Douglas (Vancouver), Michael Hogan (Kirkland Lake, Ont.) and Dominic Zamprogna (Hamilton) have signed deals to appear in key roles on the NBC update, slated to debut this fall. All three actors were most recently employed as cast regulars on Battlestar Galactica. Currently filming in Vancouver, the remake will star British actress Michelle Ryan in the role created by Lindsay Wagner in the original seventies series.

Double pricing

CBS will air a double shot of The Price Is Right to send off Bob Barker next month. The final episode hosted by the 84-year-old TV legend will air June 15 in its usual daytime slot and will then repeat later that evening at 8 as a prelude to the annual Daytime Emmy Awards (Barker is up for honours in two categories). So far, the network yet to name a new host for the top-rated game show, which Barker has presided over for the past 35 years.

Angel of death

Once again, Criss Angel will risk his neck to promote his A&E reality series. Angel recently announced his plans to be encased in a concrete cube and suspended 12 metres above the ground near Manhattan's Times Square next month. Designed to launch the third season of A&E's Criss Angel: Mindfreak, the stunt will require the TV illusionist to use his Houdini-like powers to escape from the cube, which will crash to the ground after 24 hours.

Jericho rises again?

There may still be signs of life in Jericho. The recent decision by CBS to cancel the sci-fi drama prompted a flood of mail from incensed fans. While it's unlikely CBS will bring back the show as a weekly series, the network hasn't ruled out a Jericho movie or miniseries next season. "In the coming weeks, we hope to develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the Jericho story," said CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler.
