Being Ian, the Vancouver-produced YTV series about a 12-year-old boy with an overactive imagination, has won the second-annual Shaw Rocket Prize for excellence in children's and youth TV programming. The win brings with it $50,000 for the producer, Vancouver's Studio B Productions.

The prize was created by Shaw Communications and the Royal Conservatory of Music's Learning Through the Arts Program. Finalists are selected by an international jury of children's TV experts, and the winner is determined by a jury of children in the arts program.

"It has everything that a winning program would have," said a Grade 4 juror.

Other finalists included Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs (CCI Entertainment, Toronto), Heads Up (Soapbox Productions, Vancouver), Naturally Sadie (Decode Entertainment, Toronto) and Poko Season II (Halifax Film Company). CP
