DOGGONE SKIES: Dan McManus’ dog has always followed him everywhere. That’s why he got the name Shadow. The Australian Cattle Dog was so attached that he’d cry when McManus took to the skies in his hang-glider. So the Utah man built a special harness that lets Shadow, a service dog who helps McManus deal with separation anxiety, fly with him.JIM URQUHART/Reuters

THE NAME'S DANGER. CARLOS DANGER

Anthony Weiner is being called on to drop out of the New York mayoral race now that he's been caught in yet another sexting scandal. The many media outlets asking him to leave the race say his sexting shows his bad judgment and what The New York Times called a "repellant pattern of misleading and evasion." But there's an even more obvious reason Weiner should be sent packing: his alleged sexting alias, Carlos Danger. If you asked a 17-year-old boy to pick a porn name, he'd pick Carlos Danger. But a grown man? How could anyone who thinks such a name is sexy or cool ever be handed the keys to the mayor's office?

Then again, we all love a good silly porn name, at least when it's in the context of mockery. To capitalize on the fondness, and help us all snicker some more, Slate has created a "Carlos Danger Name Generator" so that you, too, can get a "fantastic online sobriquet like Carlos Danger." Just enter your first and last name and, voilà! It dubbed me "Salvador Peril."

One has to wonder what went through Weiner's mind when he came up with his alleged online sexy name. He probably knew it was risky to send lewd texts and pictures of his penis to another woman, after doing that exact same thing forced him to resign from Congress in 2011. So better hide behind an online alias, perhaps. And perhaps that alias should be … Carlos Danger. Yesss, that's perfect.

Of course, it's possible Weiner was compelled to come up with his alleged alias as a way of responding in kind to the young woman with whom he was sexting. Her online nom de plume is Sydney Leathers.

But as David Carr of The New York Times quipped on Twitter, the former congressman probably didn't need a better handle than the one he was born with.

"I'll admit that Carlos Danger is a decent porn name, but not sure he needed a better one that [sic] Anthony Weiner."
