Can you suggest a liquid liner that won't smudge? Add to ...

The question

I love the look of liquid liner. My problem is that my eyes tear easily and I find I quickly end up looking like a raccoon. Can you suggest a liner that’s easy to apply and won’t smudge?

The answer

Quite a few brands carry cake liner, which is quite resistant to tearing. As for pencil or liquid liner, there are many department-store and drugstore brands that should work for you, as long as you look for a waterproof formulation, which should help you avoid the dreaded smearing effect.

There are two such liners in my pro kit that I swear by: Benefit BADgal waterproof liner and Maybelline Eyestudio Masterdrama pencil. Both deliver a smooth application with a deep pigment that stays put for hours. You’ll also be able to apply this to your upper and lower rims, which tend to smear quickly, and still avoid the “raccoon” look.
