Most summer camps have visitors' day this weekend. If mess hall food has left your children deprived of good home-cooked meals, bring up a nice picnic for them to enjoy.
These recipes work for lunch at home or for a buffet, but they are perfect as picnic food because they are so portable.
Wrap well in foil and plastic wrap. Instead of ice packs, use frozen bottled water to keep the food cool. (Store-bought mayonnaise does not spoil, because it has preservatives.)
