Expensive but it delivers, particularly if you seek a dense, voluptuous California red for steak. Beringer's classic oak-soaked style is in evidence, with cassis, plum chocolate and vanilla carried on a smooth texture. The blend: 75-per-cent cabernet sauvignon with dollops of merlot, cabernet franc, petite sirah and petit verdot. Decant it now or cellar it for three to 12 years for maximum enjoyment. Available in B.C. private stores and in Alberta for $64.43 (suggested).
