This is made by Marisco, owned by Brent Marris, a prominent New Zealand figure who was winemaker for Oyster Bay and proprietor of Wither Hills. The Ned is named after a tall peak near the vineyard and the sauvignon blanc that forms part of the brand sells like umbrellas in London and Vancouver. This pinot noir, from the Marlborough region of the South Island, has a bright, lively disposition. Light-medium-bodied, with jammy raspberry and strawberry fruit and earthy beetroot, it's framed by lively pepperiness, herbs and acidity; $20.99 in B.C., $19.99 in Nova Scotia.
