Valentine's Day 2014 will be a special day for television junkies – that's when Netflix will release the second season of House of Cards, the streaming service's political drama starring Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Kate Mara.

The accompanying trailer is plot-free – a long, beautiful shot of Wright's Claire Underwood taking an extended drag of a cigarette – but will certainly leave fans counting the days until they can spend a romantic night in binge-watching the entire season. As Netflix has always done with its original content, all 13 episodes will be available at once on Feb. 14.

House of Cards was nominated for and won multiple Emmy awards this year, including outstanding directing in a drama series for David Fincher. Less importantly, House of Cards is also nominated in the oddly segregated category of favourite streaming series at the 2014 People's Choice Awards, which I guess makes the Emmy folks at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences more forward-thinking than the plebs.
