Oakley's Visibility Jacket is built for travellers who won't let wind, nor rain, nor gloom deter them from staying active.

How it works

Wear it when you need to stand out in the dark. On an early morning run, the reflective panels increased my visibility to oncoming traffic, and I felt safe navigating city streets before sunrise. The water-repellent fabric kept me mostly dry during an unexpected shower, but I regretted not pulling the hood on tightly (rain can trickle in if you're not zipped up all the way).

Pros and cons

It's made of polyester, so body heat tends to stay trapped inside. In cooler climates this is a bonus; when you've already worked up a sweat, you'll appreciate the breathable mesh inner lining and the vent across the back. A phone and hotel key card will stay secure in the two front zippered pockets, but there isn't much space for anything else. The hood stashes away inside a zippered pocket, and the whole jacket packs neatly into a built-in pocket.

Final verdict

It's a stylish take-along for fitness buffs who are committed to their early-morning runs, even on holiday. Plus, the slim fit and adjustable cuffs give it a tailored and tidy look. $220; ca.oakley.com
