A 26-year-old Manitoba model has died mysteriously in Milan, Italy, after falling off a balcony.
Hayley Kohle died on Saturday,, and now her family is trying to figure out what happened.
Her sister, Bridget Kohle, called the news "shocking" and said it had been Hayley's dream to model in Milan.
The family received the news that she had died only on Tuesday.
Bridget said the family has been given few details about what led to her fatal fall, and they are now waiting to hear more from officials.
"It's still hard," Bridget said. "We still don't have any real answers."
They are dealing with Italy's Canadian embassy, RCMP and Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs.
Government officials say they are doing what they can to help the family but are not releasing any details about the case.
Ms. Kohle had planned on coming home for Christmas.
Jane Campbell of the Panache Modelling Agency, for which Hayley worked, issued a news release Thursday, saying: "Over the past year, Hayley's career began to flourish. She was on the brink of success. Her death is a great loss, and we all loved her."
