Provincial police have identified a man killed in a weekend shooting in a quiet Southwestern Ontario community but are releasing few other details about their investigation.
They say 70-year-old Donato Frigo and a woman were riding horses near a wildlife conservation area in the municipality of Central Huron when they were approached by an unknown man who shot at Frigo.
Police say the woman suffered minor injuries but was able to get to safety.
Police say a post-mortem on Frigo, who is from Caledon, Ont., is expected to take place on Tuesday.
The shooting drew a heavy police presence to the farming community on the outskirts of Clinton, Ont. Officers are still restricting access to the area where the shooting took place.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact authorities.
They are also asking the public to remain "vigilant in all matters of public safety."
