Two people were wounded after a pair of masked gunmen opened fire through the window of a Vancouver restaurant on the weekend at a birthday party of about 25 people.

"Two gunmen wearing dark clothing and hoods approached the ... restaurant and shot a number of rounds through the window there," Vancouver Police Department spokesman Constable Tim Fanning said.

Saturday night's shooting comes a month after two people were killed and six wounded in a shooting at another Vancouver eatery.

And, similar to August's double-fatal shooting at an East Vancouver restaurant, police believe the latest incident may also be gang-related. "The victim is known to us for some gang activity," Constable Fanning said.

That 29-year-old male victim is believed to have been targeted and is not co-operating with investigators. He has been released from hospital, while a woman who was also injured is still recovering. Forty-seven witnesses were taken to the police station for questioning.
