If Ontario Attorney-General Jim Flaherty and Premier Mike Harris are so concerned about wildlife conservation (Ontario To Appeal Hunting-Rights Ruling -- Feb. 19), perhaps they should pay more attention to their own jurisdiction. John Snobelen's Ministry of Natural Resources is currently reviewing parks policy to allow sport hunting in wilderness-class parks. The recently concluded Lands for Life round-tables suggested that the vast majority of Ontario citizens favoured the protection of a minimum of 12 per cent of the province's Crown lands. It would seem that the well-being of game species could be more threatened by regressive parks policy than by aboriginal hunters.
