The Clean16: The top honourees in 13 of the 16 award categories, including Premiers Philippe Couillard and Kathleen Wynne, and Clean50 founder Gavin Pitchford. Amy Jin

Celebrating outstanding achievements in sustainability across 16 categories, Canada's Clean50 Awards recognize 50 individuals or small teams working in areas from academia to manufacturing who are reducing emissions, saving energy, diverting waste and taking other actions to help build a strong and resilient low-carbon economy.

Each year, Canada's Clean50 honourees are chosen from over 500 nominees across 16 different sectors by leading sustainability and clean tech search firm Delta Management Group, with advice from industry advisors and based on the nominees' submissions. Delta founder Gavin Pitchford created the award in 2011 to bring together leaders from numerous sectors with a view to encouraging cross-community learning and collaboration that could inspire others. The Clean50 Awards also recognize 10 emerging leaders under the age of 35, and 15 innovative sustainability projects that can inform and inspire others.
