If you're planning a trip to the Tremblant resort in Quebec's scenic Laurentian mountains, there's one thing you can leave at home: your car.

Hop aboard a Porter Airlines or Air Canada flight from Toronto to the Mont-Tremblant International Airport, then take a shuttle from the airport right to your accommodations. Once you've settled into this mountainside resort's pedestrian-friendly village, you'll discover that amusements abound within a short walk of the resort's 1,900 hotel and condo units.

For shopping fans, some three dozen boutiques are scattered throughout the village. Naturally, many of them – including Oakley, Salomon, Columbia and Helly Hansen stores – focus on outdoor gear. Visitors can also shop for locally made gift items at La Cabane, Indigenous art and crafts from North and South America at Galerie Soutana, or European fashions at Ludivine. Those with a sweet tooth can indulge in everything from penny candy and ice cream to chocolate and BeaverTails fried pastries. There's even a small supermarket and an SAQ liquor store for visitors planning to dine in.

Then again, many of us go on vacation precisely to avoid cooking, and Tremblant offers lots of great venues to enjoy a variety of cuisine. Along with casual grills, pizzerias and cafés, the resort is home to several elegant restaurants. For instance, the Gypsy Tapas Bar at Le Westin Resort & Spa serves Mediterranean-inspired small plates, while Altitude at the Casino Mont-Tremblant offers a five-course discovery menu and a renowned Sunday brunch.

If you're seeking a refreshing beverage after a day on the slopes, you can sip creative cocktails at the Art Deco-style Axe Lounge Bar in the Fairmont Tremblant hotel, or craft beers at the Microbrasserie du Diable. With five bars, a huge dance floor and a roster of talented DJs, the two-storey Le P'tit Caribou regularly makes lists of the world's top après-ski bars. Nearby, the Bar Café d'Époque offers bottle service and theme nights, making it a popular spot for bachelor and bachelorette parties. And along with baccarat, poker, blackjack, slot machines and roulette, the Casino Mont-Tremblant entertains visitors with concerts, live shows and DJs.

With all of this and more easily accessible on foot, you'll never miss your car.
