Life sciences company MDS Inc. has named Douglas Prince as its executive vice-president for finance and chief financial officer, replacing Jim Garner.

The Toronto-based company said Tuesday that Mr. Prince will join MDS on March 12, replacing Jim Garner, who will leave at the end of April.

With over 28 years' experience in finance and operations management, Mr. Prince joins MDS from PerkinElmer, where he led the internal audit. Before that, during 17 years at General Electric he led strategic turnarounds, acquisitions, integration activities and major productivity initiatives.

"I am very pleased to have Doug Prince join our executive team with his wealth of financial and operational expertise," MDS chief executive Stephen DeFalco said in a release.

MDS supplies products and services for the development of drugs and diagnosis and treatment of disease. The firm has more than 8,800 employees in 28 countries.
