The Montreal Alouettes completed their new-look coaching staff Friday with the hiring of running backs coach Andy Bischoff and defensive assistant Jean-Marc Edme.

Bischoff joined the CFL club after 14 years at Cretin-Derham Hall in the United States. Edme worked last season as a front office intern and later as an assistant to head coach Charlie Taaffe with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The 10-man coaching staff, including head coach Marc Trestman, are all newcomers except offensive co-ordinator Scott Milanovich. He served as quarterbacks coach with the Alouettes last season under Jim Popp, who resigned as head coach to concentrate on his duties as general manager.

Including Milanovich and Edme, only five of the coaches have CFL experience - defensive co-ordinator Tim Burke and linebackers coach Casey Creehan, who both came from the Calgary Stampeders, and special teams coach Scott Squires, formerly with the Edmonton Eskimos.

Offensive line coach Vince Martino and defensive line coach Michael Sinclair came from NFL Europe, while Bischoff and receivers coach Jaime Elizondo are from American universities. Trestman was hired after a long career in the NFL.

Edme's responsibility is defensive quality control, which is an assistant to the defensive co-ordinator. He is a Montreal native and former college fullback whose brother Alexandre Edme plays for the Laval University Rouge et Or.

The Alouettes training camp opens June 1 at College Militaire Royale in St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Que.
