Saturday's draw for Wimbledon, which will begin in London on Monday, looks like the French Open all over in the women's event.

Arguably the three best players, No. 1 seed Justine Hein, No. 3 Jelena Jankovic and No. 7 Serena Williams, are all in the top half. And just as in Paris, Henin is slated to meet Williams in the quarter-finals and Jankovic in the semi-finals.

Henin won at Roland Garros with victories of 6-4, 6-3 (over Williams) and 6-2, 6-2 (over Jankovic), but things could be different on this year's topless Centre Court. As a result of the construction to have a retractable roof in place by 2009, Centre Court will be a very unfamiliar open-air bowl - not good, with lots of rain forecast for the first week.

In the bottom half of the draw, 2005 champion Venus Williams could meet Dinara Safina in the third round and then 2004 winner and No. 2 seed Maria Sharapova in the round of 16.

Defending champion Amélie Mauresmo, short on match play, may have to beat both Nicole Vaidisova and Ana Ivanovic on her way to the semi-finals.

Aleksandra Wozniak, 19, of Blainville, Que., has drawn a familiar opponent, Laura Granville, 26, of the United States. Granville beat Wozniak 6-2, 7-5 in the qualifying at this week's grass-court event in Eastbourne, but the Quebecker had two indoor wins over the American late last year.

Men's top seed Roger Federer, hoping to join Bjorn Borg (1976-80) with a fifth consecutive title at the All England Lawn Tennis Club tournament, looks to have a benign path early, except possibly for ever inscrutable Marat Safin in the third round.

The 2006 runner-up and No. 2 seed, Rafael Nadal, will start off against Mardy Fish and will face a potential quarter-final against Tomas Berdych, a Safin-like talent but equally unpredictable.

Lucky loser Frank Dancevic, 22, of Niagara Falls, Ont., has drawn Stefan Koubek, 30. The Austrian has a 4-7 career record at Wimbledon.

Maybe the most fascinating first-round match will have big-serving, 6-foot-10 Ivo Karlovic facing crafty, 5-foot-9 Fabrice Santoro.

In what is officially known as the gentlemen's singles, another opening-round match will feature two men of that ilk, as Carlos Moya, 30, will meet fading home heartthrob Tim Henman, 32.
