Cardiff's new driverless, computer-controlled taxi service is tested Thursday in the city's Bay area in Wales. The 'ULTra' (Urban Light Transport) is being developed with the backing of the Cardiff County Council and was designed by Professor Martin Lowson of Bristol University. Paying fares of about $1.43 (U.S.), passengers would ride the "personalized taxis" along rubber wheels at a top speed of 24 miles per hour and program each train cabin to stop at the station of their choice.
