The Virgin Festival international music juggernaut is expanding to Calgary next summer, flamboyant billionaire Richard Branson announced yesterday at a press conference, to which he arrived by chuck wagon.
"We claim the historic site of Fort Calgary as Virgin territory," Branson said as he rode into what will be the venue for his festival, just east of the city's downtown.
Calgary is the third Canadian city he has set up shop in to promote his Virgin Mobile cellphone service, following Toronto and Vancouver. The Calgary Virgin Festival is set for June 21 and 22.
