Dance Independent Project. This annual concert brings the works of top-notch professional choreographers to York University. Janak Khendry Dance Company. Khendry is one of the few men who perform the Indian classical dance form bharatanatyam in Canada, and this concert, which contains two world premieres, continues his vision of mixing traditional and inter-cultural dance influences. MOTUS O 15th Anniversary Gala. The company's celebration includes a retrospective of its quirky repertoire performed by both present and past dancers. Moving Pictures Festival of Dance on Film and Video. After 15 years, this is the final edition of a festival that celebrates dance film as an art form in its own right. Today, 9 p.m.: Global Moves, a showcase of international dance films. Tomorrow, 7 p.m.: Fifteen Candles, a retrospective of the best of MoPix. National Ballet of Canada: The Sleeping Beauty. The National is launching its first season in its new home with Rudolf Nureyev's lavish 1972 production, which has just undergone a glittering $700,000 refurbishment. Toronto Dance Theatre: Timecode Break. Christopher House's brilliant and compelling new work, which had its debut at the Canada Dance Festival, is an homage to dance and the dancer.
