Capaldi wrote and directed Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life , which tied with Trevor in 1995 for the Oscar for best live-action short film. Capaldi's film has Kafka trying to write The Metamorphosis while being constantly interrupted by a knife salesman and several party girls.
That &*#@&% Tim Burton!
Capaldi revealed in an article he wrote for the Guardian that he had once pitched a remake of Roger Corman's X: The Man With the X-Ray Eyes - only to see the project dropped when it was learned that director Tim Burton was linked to a remake of the same movie for another studio. Alas, Burton walked away from the film, though MGM recently announced it was going ahead with another director.
