BP ( (BP) ) has shared an announcement.
On 14 July 2026, BP issued a trading statement outlining its current estimates for second-quarter 2026 performance, ahead of final results due on 4 August 2026. The company expects reported upstream production to fall to 2,170–2,220mboe/d from 2,339mboe/d in the first quarter due to seasonal maintenance, mainly in the Gulf of America, and disruption in the Middle East.
Despite lower volumes, BP anticipates higher earnings contributions from improved realizations in both gas and low carbon energy and oil production and operations, with oil realizations alone expected to add $1.8–2.1 billion versus the prior quarter. The customers and products segment is set to benefit from seasonally higher demand, stronger fuels margins, and significantly higher refining margins, even as refinery throughput dips on turnarounds and lower Whiting volumes.
Financially, BP expects its underlying effective tax rate to rise to 33–37% and net debt to fall to $22–23 billion from $25.3 billion, even after redeeming €2.5 billion of perpetual hybrid bonds and paying $1.1 billion of Gulf of America settlement liabilities. The group also foresees post-tax impairment charges of about $1.0 billion, mainly in transition businesses in gas and low carbon energy, underscoring portfolio reshaping as it balances deleveraging with continued investment in the energy transition.

Spark’s Take on BP Stock
According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, BP is a Neutral.
The score is anchored by mixed financial performance: solid cash flow and positive operating profitability are tempered by very thin net profitability and higher leverage. Technicals are supportive with the stock above major moving averages and positive MACD. Valuation is a meaningful positive (low P/E and strong dividend), while the latest earnings call was moderately constructive on execution and deleveraging focus but flagged near-term headwinds (working-capital build, paused buybacks, refining margin pressure, and regional disruption risk).
