First Financial Indiana Announces CFO Retirement and Successor

Tipranks - Fri Sep 18, 4:42PM CDT

First Financial Indiana ( (THFF) ) has provided an update.

On September 17, 2026, First Financial Corporation announced that longtime Chief Financial Officer and Secretary/Treasurer Rodger A. McHargue will retire on December 31, 2026, concluding a tenure as CFO that began in 2010. During his time in the role, McHargue was credited by management with helping drive strategic initiatives, meaningful growth and a stronger financial foundation for the bank holding company.

The Board has appointed Paul D. Nungester, currently Senior Vice President and Director of Finance, to succeed McHargue as CFO effective January 1, 2027, under an employment agreement running through June 30, 2028. Nungester brings nearly three decades of finance leadership experience, including prior CFO responsibilities at another financial institution, and his hiring underscores First Financial’s focus on continuity in its financial strategy and stable executive succession for shareholders and other stakeholders.

Spark’s Take on THFF Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, THFF is a Neutral.

The score is driven primarily by solid financial performance (strong profitability and TTM cash generation) tempered by higher balance-sheet leverage. Valuation is supportive with a low P/E and decent yield, while technical indicators are the main near-term drag due to weak momentum below key short-term moving averages. Corporate events are net positive, led by continued dividends and a growth-oriented merger, but with execution/approval risk.
