The 'Dickey Amendment', why the U.S. doesn't study its gun problem

For over 20 years the United States government has restricted funding for gun control research and that's because of a little known obstacle, the so-called 'Dickey Amendment'. The rider was introduced into the government spending bill in 1996 and remains there today as the latest U.S. budget was passed with the amendment still in it.
